This is the second book (of two) from author Joy Ward that I’ll be reviewing. You can see my review on her first book “Haint” here.

Now I know you’re not ‘supposed to‘ pick favorites, but I’m not gonna lie, this book was my favorite of the two. I’m so glad I have a copy to give away to a lucky reader! Keep on scrolling for details on how to enter…

[Book intro] Joy co-authored this book with Missa Dixon. According to the introduction, Missa has an ability to hear the voices of our animal companions in her mind. She is able to translate their thoughts, feelings, and opinions to the rest of us. Missa is an animal communicator. ‘Interviews from the Ark’ is based off of Missa’s translations of various animals answers on how they view the world. They spoke with dogs, cats, horses, rats, birds, several exotics as well. Basically an entire menagerie of animal opinions are stuffed into this little book :)

[The details] I was honestly surprised by some of the responses I read in this book. After reading the introduction, I wasn’t sure what to expect next. Each animal who was interviewed has their own chapter. Each chapter ranges from 2-6 pages depending on how talkative that particular animal was when Missa communicated with them. It is easy to feel skeptical when you yourself do not have the same ability that Missa claims to have. As humans, when we don’t understand something, we tend to doubt or disbelieve it. But some of the responses in this book just might be enough to make a believer out of you….That’ll be for you to decide.

This isn’t my first encounter with the idea of animal communication though. Growing up, I used to watch Dr. Sonya Fitzpatrick’s show on Animal Planet and always believed she was communicating with the animals like she said she did. And then felt insanely jealous that I couldn’t do that. I know some people don’t believe in it, and it’s ok. You don’t have to. Everyone is entitled to their own opinions, without fear of judgement. You’ll like this book either way.

[Final Thoughts] I think this is a great read for animal lovers world-wide. It’s a very eye-opening and inspiring book that helps bring our own existence back into perspective. It’s delightful to read, even if you don’t believe in animal communication. The book is full of wisdom and understanding. I’ll be happily placing it on my bookshelf amongst my other ‘animal books’ which are beginning to take over the entire bookshelf at this point! :)

    • If you click ‘see my pin now’ right after pinning it will take you to it and give you the URL. If you have already clicked away from that, you can go into the board you pinned it to, click the exact pin and then copy the URL and comment that to us. Hope that makes sense!?

  1. My favorite book about pets is “The Story Of Edgar Sawtelle”. I was fully immersed in their world. Loved reading about the breed, and loved how they named those dogs by looking up words in the dictionary!

  2. This book sounds like a really interesting read. No one believes me , but I am sure , my cat and dog both speak to my husband. It is like they have thier only personal language.
My favorite animal book would be The Otter Book. It is a story all about otters. This was a story that belonged to my children when they were in grade school. That was a long time ago but it still brings a smile when I think of how much we enjoyed the story. We must of read it a hundred times. :)
